ABOUT

Theme: (SEA)ZE THE DAY
Location: Camp Cazadero
Date: October 18th-20th, 2013

Every year, Southeast Asians Furthering Education hosts the Southeast Asian (SEA) Retreat. This weekend long event is aimed towards uniting and empowering Southeast Asian (American) identified students at the University of California, Davis. This retreat's purpose is to celebrate and validate the rich history and culture of an identity and community that is often misunderstood and disregarded. The various activities and workshops this weekend are designed to help participants discover what it means to be Southeast Asian themselves and to be Southeast Asian in the community.

This year's theme is (SEA)ZE THE DAY. Its purpose for the retreat is to motivate participants to take a step further with their activism and advocacy and work towards progressing the SEA Community. All too often, efforts to improve the community are hindered by personal biases, a lack of understanding of ourselves and of each other, and ignorance of issues that surround us. The retreat is not only a way for participants to learn more about themselves or build community, but it is also an opportunity to cultivate new ideas and break down barriers in a safe and welcoming space. You do not need to be Southeast Asian to attend! So we invite all interested students to apply!
